This course is designed to develop qualified firearms instructors who can manage and conduct firearms training programs. Students will be trained in contemporary firearms techniques, equipment, and accessories and will participate in a variety of combat shooting drills including drawing techniques, safe loading and unloading procedures, proper use of cover, immediate actions, engagement of multiple targets, and a variety of other shooting problems. Subject matter will include: safety, range operation, ballistics, instructor liability, night firing, semi-automatic pistols, and shotguns.

The Firearms IT Shoot-In-dates are listed below. Please make arrangements to attend one of these dates.

March 23rd @ 8:00am

March 26th @ 8:00am

Each shoot-in will take place at the Douglas County Firing Range located at 1735 Wortham Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134. Each participant needs 90 rounds of ammo and duty gear. Each officer/deputy must shoot two GSAC scores of 270 or above (90) out of three courses of fire. Please know that the first 12 to pass are in the class.

Listed below are the following items needed for the range:

1) 800 Rounds of Handgun Ammo
2) 50 Rounds of 00 (Double Zero) Buckshot
3) 50 Rounds of Birdshot
4) 50 Slugs
5) Rain Gear & Cap (Baseball Style)
6) Eye Protection/Ear Protection
7) Vest ¬MUST be worn
8) Shotgun (Departmental Issued)
9) Full Leather Gear with 3 Mags
10) Flashlight/Mounted type are ok/Must also have hand held flashlight
11) Water
12) Patrol Rifle with Sling/600 Rounds Ammo & 3 Mags
